Silverleaf partners with Eagle Rare

East London cocktail lounge Silverleaf is opening up its ‘hidden bar’ Alba to the public for a series of whisky tastings this month.

The bar is also launching its Silverleaf Eagle Rare Bourbon this month

Silverleaf, located at 3 Bishopsgate, on the third floor of Devonshire House, will debut the Silverleaf Eagle Rare – a Bourbon that the Sazerac-owned brand has made especially for the bar.

Alba, a tasting room hidden within Silverleaf, has space for 11 countertop seats and is generally used for private events and tastings. Throughout February, guests can book Alba for two-hour slots for £30 (US$38) per person, where they’ll also have the chance to sample a dram of the Silverleaf Eagle Rare.

Eagle Rare tastings will be held on Thursdays from 1 to 15 February. These will be led by Eagle Rare brand ambassador Liam Sparks, who will guide guests through five different whiskies from the brand’s portfolio. Each tasting is priced at £80 (US$101).

On every Tuesday of this month, Silverleaf will host tastings of its most recent cocktail menu, Building Blocks. The bar said that, during the session, “guests are given access to the philosophy of how every cocktail is made, with a peek into the modern and progressive techniques used by the team”.

To cap the month off on Thursday 22 February, Sparks will host an ‘American Dream’ tasting, which will feature some of Sazerac’s most premium bottles such as the Double Eagle Very Rare (which retails for £5,900/US$7,453); Eagle Rare 17 Year Old 2023, from the latest Buffalo Trace Antique Collection; Sazerac 18 Year Old 2023; William Larue Weller 2023; OFC 1993 Bourbon; and the new Silverleaf Eagle Rare. The tasting is priced at £427.50 (US$540) per person.

Bookings for all tastings can be made on the bar’s website.

Silverleaf is credited as one of London’s best cocktail bars and was nominated for a Spirited Award last year in the Best New International Cocktail Bar – Europe category.
