TricorBraun buys German glass packaging provider Glassland
American packaging designer and distributor TricorBraun has acquired packaging producer Glassland.
This move furthers the European expansion of TricorBraun, following its acquisition of Italian packaging company Vetroelite in 2021.
The integration of Glassland will broaden TricorBraun’s presence in Europe. Glassland offers a catalogue of glass bottle and closure designs across Germany and Switzerland.
Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Declan McCarthy, president of TricorBraun Europe, said: “This strategic acquisition provides additional growth avenues for Glassland, Vetroelite, our team members, and supplier partners while providing expanded services and local options for customers.”
Since its founding in 1902, TricorBraun has acquired and accelerated growth for 41 packaging firms globally. Vetroelite, its most recent European acquisition, offers a range of glass containers for liquid and food products, as well as perfumery products. Its assortment of containers includes bottles, carafes, flasks and jars.
McCarthy added: “TricorBraun has a successful acquisition track record because we partner with strong companies while providing opportunities for team member and business growth.”
All Glassland team members will continue to work out of their Bonn, Germany, location with TricorBraun during a transition period, after which the company will fully integrate with Vetroelite.
Johannes Huth, founder and CEO of Glassland, said: “Joining TricorBraun and Vetroelite is an exciting step in Glassland’s history. Working together provides access to global resources and expertise while preserving our dedication to the highest level of customer service.
“We look forward to future growth in the beer, spirits, and wine sectors in Switzerland, and as well as serving other packaging segments – in addition to glass – with TricorBraun’s support.”<
McCarthy added: “The Glassland team is equally passionate about customer service as they are about design, and as a result, they’ve built a longstanding business with an impressive reputation.
“We welcome Glassland to TricorBraun and look forward to supporting the team’s continued growth.”
