The expansion comprised a 75,000-square-foot distillery, alongside grain processing and bottling facilities. The site will supplement the capacity of its original distillery on Courtland Avenue in the Short North district.

Middle West Spirits’ new distillery has brought economic benefits to the east side of Columbus through the reuse and improvement of land and existing structures, as well as tripling the employee base.

Ryan Lang, head distiller and CEO of Middle West Spirits, said: “Along the journey of our own whiskey-making development and growth, we have collaborated with partners at every stage and size of the process, from testing to full-scale commercial production.

“Now that our expansion is complete, we are excited to continue these partnerships and help more fellow distillers by assisting with all aspects of whiskey-making while we continue growing and innovating our own brands.”

Lang co-founded the distillery in 2005, coming from a multi-generational family with experience in distilling and agriculture.

With more than 15 years of experience producing spirits, the Middle West team has since produced 15 of its own branded products.

These include Middle West Bourbon, Rye and Wheat Whisky, the Double Cask Whiskey collection, Oyo vodkas, Vim & Petal and Lux & Umbra gins.

The distiller has also partnered with dozens of companies, such as Horse Soldier and Old Line Spirits, to develop products.
