Pernod Ricard-owned Jameson Irish whiskey has teamed up with footballer Kyle Jameson as part of its sponsorship deal with the English Football League (EFL).

Jameson, who plays as a centre-back for Newport County in League Two, will sport the brand on the club’s home, away and third kits for 2024.

Of the sponsorship, he said: “I couldn’t be happier to sign for this iconic ‘club’ with so much history – what an opportunity. Now it’s time to kick on and start delivering the goods for all those Jameson fans out there.”

The Irish whiskey has a four-year deal as the official sponsor of the English Football League (EFL), running through to the 2026/27 season.

While supporting grassroots football in the UK, the brand is visible on the EFL’s website, digital and social media channels, as well as pitch-side screens. In Newport, extensive Jameson branding is shown throughout the stadium.

Josh McCarthy, brand director of Jameson UK, said: “What a fantastic way for us to get even more behind the grassroots game through our deal with Kyle and Newport County.

“Football and whiskey are all about telling stories and we have loads of great things to tell from the 72 EFL clubs.

“This partnership just reinforces this and shows that football stories don’t always have to come from global superstars. We look forward to sharing all the work we have planned with Kyle in 2024.”

On 31 January, three fans will have a chance to grab a signed shirt through the brand’s Instagram page.

Jameson is one of the world’s biggest-selling whisky brands.
