Thunder Toffee gains Sainsbury’s listing
By Lauren BowesUK brand Thunder Drinks will see its toffee vodka spirit drink sold at Sainsbury’s stores nationwide.
Thunder Toffee Vodka is made from a five-times-distilled wheat grain vodka and UK-sourced ingredients including natural toffee syrup.
The 29.9% ABV spirits drink became available at the supermarket chain last month (September).
The brand expects the drink’s ‘smooth’ toffee taste to be a hit for the festive season. Its Christmas gift pack features three 50ml bottles of the drink, priced at £7.29 (US$9), while a 700ml bottle retails at £23 (US$28).
Thunder Drinks suggests enjoying the toffee spirit drink neat with ice or using it to create an Espresso Martini.
Thunder Toffee Vodka was created in the French Alps during the 1980s and 1990s, with many bars creating their own takes on toffee vodka to appeal to skiers and snowboarders.
Thunder Drinks’ founder, Jon Lilly, created his spirit drink while working at the famous G-Jays bar, located at the base of the slopes in Val d’Isère.
The brand also sells a rhubarb and ginger vodka spirit drink, as well as Thunder Gin and a pink gin variant.
The vodka category is expected to grow by 1.57% between 2022 and 2023, with growth driven by increased demand for flavoured variants, according to a report by Technavio.
