Sierra marks National Tequila Day with recipes

Tequila brand Sierra is marking National Tequila Day (24 July) with a series of Frozen Margarita recipes for consumers to try at home.

Since the launch of Sierra Tequila de México in 1981, the brand, known for its ‘iconic’ sombrero-shaped cap, has developed its portfolio to include a series of Tequila expressions.

Most recently, Sierra debuted its low-ABV Tropical Chilli bottling, which is described as having a fruity and ‘slightly spicy’ taste profile, with notes of mango, passion fruit, and a hint of chilli. It is made with a base of Sierra Tequila Blanco.

The 18% ABV Sierra Tropical Chilli has been created to attract consumers between 18-35-years-old, and is tapping into the trend of fruity shots and lower ABV spirits.

For those looking to consume their Tequila as a shot this National Tequila Day, Sierra recommends three steps to allow its expressions to ‘unfold in all their glory’.

Step one is to choose the rim garnish. For its Blanco expression, it suggests a salt rim on the edge of the shot glass, while for its Reposado, it recommends using cinnamon.

The second step is to fill the shot glass with either Sierra Tequila Blanco or Reposado, and the third is to choose the citrus accompaniment: a lemon wedge for Blanco, and an orange wedge for Reposado.

Meanwhile, Sierra Tropical Chilli is recommended served either chilled or at room temperature.

Frozen Margaritas

In addition to its shot recommendations, Sierra has created a series of Frozen Margarita recipes to mark National Tequila Day.

“Serving Margaritas with Sierra Antiguo is a great way to discover the variety of the Mexican trendy spirit and try out new trends,” the brand noted. “The quintessential summer trend in 2023 is Frozen Margaritas, which make for a cool treat and shine in rich colours in the Margarita bowl.”
