Amber Beverage hires agricultural director

Kah Tequila producer Amber Beverage Group (ABG) has named Alejandro Reynoso as agricultural director of its Amber Agave division in Mexico.

Reynoso has held agricultural-based roles with Diageo

Amber Agave is an arm of ABG that manages more than 400 hectares of Blue Weber agave fields. Reynoso and a team will be responsible for overseeing the field-to-bottle aspect of this project.

Reynoso has previous experience with Diageo, having held the roles of agricultural operations senior manager and agriculture strategic planning manager.

He said: “I am excited to join the talented team in Mexico and I am eager to collaborate with colleagues to assure the supply of agave in the short and long term.

“I will be looking to help achieve quality throughout the crop cycle to enable us to harvest the greatest number of kilos of sugar for Tequila production.

“We’ll be adopting technological and digital strategies to optimise the harvest and production, starting almost immediately with a review of crop nutrition during the rainy season, which runs from June to October.

“I’m also excited to maintain and build strategic relationships with other agave producers, suppliers, universities, and with regulatory and government bodies.”

The agave is used for a number of brands, including Rooster Rojo Tequila and Kah Tequila.

David Tenorio, managing director of Amber Production Tequila, said: “We are very happy to have Alejandro on board within the ABG Mexico team as, with this collaboration, we will ensure the right flow of information and contribution to the business in building a strong agave-to-glass supply chain.

“His experience and finance-oriented mindset will be valuable as we scale up our agave business to grow to the next level.”

Reynoso will represent ABG at The National Chamber of the Tequila Industry, and The Tequila Regulatory Council and its technical committees.

Last month, Amber Beverage Group issued €30 million (US$33.2m) worth of bonds to fund its automated, high-bay warehouse project.
