Cambridge Public House reveals green goals

Paris-based bar The Cambridge Public House has launched a global community plan, outlining six sustainable development goals (SDGs) to encourage better practices for the drinks sector.

Each team member will choose one of the six SDGs from the plan to focus on, to work towards developing ‘better practices and education’ for the drinks industry.

SDGs have been outlined in the United Nations (UN) agenda for 2023 – there are 17 in total.

The plan will kick off in May, with the team travelling to Hong Kong and Sydney to carry out the first SDG: climate action.

This will be followed by zero hunger, and sustainable cities and communities in South America in June.

For the climate action SDG, the team will review the responsible consumption and production processes used by these regions, and track the results in a database.

As well as the executing the SDGs, the bar team will be carrying out ‘community action’ in France to bolster the goals of its sustainable plan.

This includes Cambridge Public House co-founder Hyacinthe Lescoët launching a running club, which will include eight races of 10km and 5km to raise €8,000 (US$8450) for the community.

The team will aim to achieve these SDGs through a variety of other activities, including international bar collaborations, charity partners, financial aid, seminars and more.

Lescoët recently teamed up with Greek brand Mataroa Mediterranean Dry Gin to introduce a signature cocktail inspired by the brand’s botanicals.
