The 21st Tales of the Cocktail conference will be held at The Ritz-Carlton hotel, located in the French Quarter of New Orleans, US.

The Tales of the Cocktail Foundation (TOTCF) has chosen the theme ‘Vitalise’ for 2023 to ‘encapsulate the hospitality community’s vibrancy and adaptability’.

“There has never been a more pressing need to ‘vitalise’ our lives,” said John Gakuru, member of the TOTCF board of directors.

“The theme for 2023 runs deeper than just a need to vitalise our work and our beloved industry; it is also a rallying cry to look beyond our work life and ensure that we look after ourselves, others, and our planet.

“It’s essential that everything in our busy lives is in balance. This year’s theme will help us to take account of every area of our lives to ensure that we’re navigating life with positivity and vitality. ‘Vitalise’ is what we need to and will do, together.”

Attendees to this year’s conference can expect educational programming, Beyond the Bar activations, tastings, networking opportunities, and award programmes.

The six-day-long festival will also offer digital education and networking opportunities for those who cannot make it to New Orleans.

More details on the TOTC 2023 programme, including seminars and ticket information, will be released in due course.

The 2023 TOTCF Grant Application Process is also open for submissions until 3 February. The scheme focuses on bartender wellbeing across areas such as equity, advocacy, healthcare, mental health, education, sexual harassment prevention, and workplace safety.

Grant recipients will be announced in autumn 2023.

Last year, TOTC partnered with the Singapore Tourism Board to spotlight the country’s bartending.

The theme for the 2022 festival was ‘Progress’.
