The company has launched its new sustainability roadmap for 2030, called Regenerate the Future.

Petra Gräsbeck, communications and sustainability director at Anora, said: “Sustainability is at the heart of our strategy and central to the production of all our grain-based spirits.

Gräsbeck said of the roadmap’s name: “This refers to regenerative farming, regenerating the conditions of our planet, but also regenerating ourselves and our operations as well as supporting responsible Nordic drinking culture over the coming decades with the aim of building a sustainable, future-proof business.”

Anora has outlined four primary sustainability targets as part of the report.

The company has committed to achieving a 38% reduction in total emissions by 2030 and to reach net zero by 2050.

Anora is also aiming to achieve carbon-neutral operations at Koskenkorva distillery by 2026, and carbon-neutral production across all operations by 2030.

Koskenkorva distillery has already achieved a 60% cut in emissions since 2014.

By 2030, the firm will also invest in regenerative farming, and increase its share of regeneratively cultivated barley as the raw material of Anora’s grain spirit-based products by 30%.

The company will also aim to make all its packaging lightweight and fully recyclable, and made of materials from certified sources, or of recycled origin, by 2030.

Anora said its partners, including Nordic monopolies, have pledged to decrease their emissions by 50% by 2030.

From the start of 2023, all electricity needed to power Anora’s Finland operations will be produced from 100% renewable sources, including wind power.

Half of electricity used to power Koskenkorva distillery will be replaced by wind energy.

Anora said it would continue to promote a fair, safe and inclusive workplace and global supply chain. The company will also ‘enhance’ its diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.

As part of the roadmap, Anora will conduct a biodiversity assessment and aim to enhance its efforts in this area.
