The new Puerto de Indias Blackberry Gin made its UK debut during the 11-day-long London Cocktail Week festival in October, which featured four hubs across the city.

“Puerto de Indias took the Spanish spirit over Covent Garden as part of the Little Cocktail Village and served up delicious cocktails as well as giving those in attendance the opportunity to be the first in the UK to taste our new blackberry gin, which is now available for listings,” said Craig Chapman, head of brands at Amber Beverage UK, the gin’s distributor.

The new gin has ‘already experienced great success’ in the brand’s home market of Spain, and ‘comes at the perfect time to meet increasing demand for autumnal and wintery flavours’, the distiller said.

The liquid is said to offer fruity blackberry notes on the nose with hints of violet caramel, and flavours of wild black fruits and a touch of cinnamon.

The brand cited Nielsen data that noted the flavoured gin category climbed by 30% this year compared to 2021.

Laura Noguera, global consumer director of Puerto de Indias, said: “After years of experience in this constantly evolving sector, we wanted to stay true to our innovative character and create this new flavour. With it, we hope to continue on our journey of revolutionising the way gin is produced and keep delivering on the excellent taste we are known for.”

“We have already seen great success exporting our Puerto de Indias Strawberry gin from our Sevillian distillery to the rest of the world, and we are hoping to repeat that same success and strengthen the Spanish spirit with our blackberry flavour.”

Described as a pioneer in the pink gin category, Puertos de Indias was the number-two flavoured gin brand in the world, according to IWSR 2021 figures cited by the Spanish producer.

Chapman added: “Puerto de Indias, with its strawberry gin, is synonymous with flavour, so to be able to build on that with another incredible gin that allows us to broaden our range and offer a more autumnal offering is a great step forwards for the brand.

“We’re seeing excellent growth this year, and the addition of blackberry will only help us accelerate even faster.”

Bottled at 37.5% ABV, the blackberry-flavoured gin is priced at RRP £26.99 (US$31).

The brand has made significant investments in growing its presence in the UK in recent years, including a £2 million (US$2.6m) push in 2019 and an expansion of its team.
