Kyrö secures nationwide Waitrose listing

Finnish distiller Kyrö Distillery Company has launched its gin and Dairy Cream liqueur in UK retailer Waitrose.

The nationwide deal sees the brand’s Kyrö Dairy Cream liqueur and its signature Kyrö Gin launched in stores and online.

Kyrö Dairy Cream liqueur is a mix of the distillery’s local milk and cream with its own rye spirit and whisky. It offers rich notes of liquorice and chocolate, with subtle hints of toffee and salt, and rests at 16% ABV. It has an RRP £19.95 (US$22.96) per 500ml bottle.

Co-founder Miika Lipiäinen commented: “Our listing comes after extensive research when we saw over 200 bottles of Kyrö Dairy Cream sold over the counter at London Coffee Festival. Recent research we conducted found that 78% of our target demographic are likely to make a purchase at a Waitrose store, grounding our partnership with the national retailer.

“We are very proud of our achievements, especially with our rapid growth here in the UK. This is our first listing in a major UK retailer and is a huge moment for us as a brand. We’re looking forward to seeing how we continue to grow over the next few years.”

Kyrö Gin is made with 100% rye and wild botanicals, and is said to be ‘a taste of Finnish summer in a bottle’.

Each 500ml bottle clocks in at 42.6% ABV and boasts herbal and sweet tasting notes with gentle citrus on the nose. It retails at £29.95 (US$34.47).

Distilling in what was once an old dairy in the town of Isokyrö, the brand uses Finnish rye to create its spirits.
