Berlin Packaging acquires Discoglass

Hybrid packaging supplier Berlin Packaging has completed its ninth acquisition this year with the purchase of Discoglass.

Berlin Packaging is the world’s largest hybrid packaging supplier of glass, plastic and metal containers, and closures.

Discoglass has a ‘strong reputation’ in Cognac. Berlin Packaging believes the acquisition will strengthen its position in European spirits and wine.

Paolo Recrosio, CEO of Berlin Packaging EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), said: “This acquisition is a unique opportunity to expand our position in the high-end spirits and wine markets.

“Discoglass’s knowledge of Cognac and local wine industries will complement Berlin Packaging’s considerable expertise in these key market segments.”

Discoglass was established in 1998 and is a family-owned business in the southwest of France, in Merpins, and its purchase marks the sixth acquisition in the EMEA region.

Emmanuel Ring, CEO of Discoglass, added: “Our expertise goes far beyond offering excellent packaging to our customers.

“We also provide a full range of high-quality services. I believe Berlin Packaging’s hybrid supplier model and commitment to customer satisfaction is a great fit for us.”

New EMEA spirits division

Additionally, the company has created a new EMEA division, called Berlin Packaging Spirits. It was developed to increase the group’s commercial focus on high-end spirits brands with eco-sustainable, innovative designs.

Recrosio added: “With the announcement of our EMEA spirits division we are aiming to position ourselves as the best integrated commercial partner for brands and companies operating in the high-end spirits sector.

“The new division showcases the in-house expertise we have deployed over many years to develop custom items and product ranges for leading spirits producers, all based on an innovative approach through which Berlin Packaging aims to offer unique eco-sustainable, identifiable packaging.”
