Tidal Rum partners with P&O Cruises

Jersey-based brand Tidal Rum has teamed up with P&O Cruises to create the ‘world’s first’ rum distillery at sea.

P&O partnered with Salcombe Distilling Co to launch the ‘first’ gin distillery at sea on cruise ship Iona

The distillery will produce an island-inspired rum, in partnership with Tidal Rum, a brand created by founders of Shorts Boy Distillery Ben Clyde-Smith and Harry Coulthard.

Tidal Rum was inspired and influenced by the sea and shore. The brand takes pride in sustainably using botanicals that thrive on the tidal coastline of Jersey in order to celebrate rum in an innovative way.

The rum’s maiden production will take place on board P&O’s newest cruise liner, Arvia, with the distillery located in Anderson’s Bar. It will then be ready for guests to enjoy neat or in an array of expertly crafted cocktails on board.

Co-founder Coulthard said: “With our new rum, we wanted to bring together the finest rums of the Caribbean with the fresh notes of coastal botanicals from the shores of Britain’s islands. Whether you’re taking your first sip while enjoying a stunning island horizon or a beautifully crafted cocktail in Anderson’s Bar, our rum has all the ingredients of an unforgettable P&O Cruises holiday.”

Following the rum’s launch, which will take place in December, Tidal Rum will recreate the recipe and bottle on shore, ready to share and serve to guests across the P&O Cruises fleet.

P&O Cruises partnered with Salcombe Distilling Co in 2020 to launch the ‘world’s first’ gin distillery at sea.

Last month the drinks business rounded up 10 of the world’s most exciting new distilleries.
