Pernod Ricard-owned Royal Salute is marking the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a limited edition Scotch whisky.

The Royal Salute Platinum Jubilee Edition is inspired by seven of the Queen’s ‘iconic’ brooches from her personal collection, and only 147 bottles have been released.

The designs of each of the brooches have been engraved on seven varying decanters and boxes, with a colour palette inspired by Her Majesty’s wardrobe.

Royal Salute master blender Sandy Hyslop said: “For this momentous occasion I wanted to create a blend that captured Royal Salute’s unique heritage, while honouring the Queen’s seven decades of reign.

“We have expertly achieved this by using incredibly rare whisky from no fewer than seven stills to represent her time on the throne. It is an honour to have had a role to play in this piece of history; a task that has allowed us to release a prestigious whisky that also acts as a precious collector’s item for whisky lovers to cherish.”

The expression has been finished for two years in tawny Port casks – a wine served during a Coronation Banquet in 1953 – and includes high-aged whiskies from seven ghost distilleries.

Of the 147 bottles, 37 are available to travel retail shoppers in airports including London Heathrow Airport, Dubai International Airport, Singapore Changi Airport, Hong Kong International Airport, Sydney Airport, and more.

Liya Zhang, vice-president of marketing, Pernod Ricard global travel retail, commented: “The ultra-prestige limited edition is the perfect piece of Jubilee memorabilia for travel retail shoppers – whether as a collector’s item to invest in to mark the historical moment or a souvenir to be generously shared with friends and family.

“As global travel picks back up, duty free basket sizes and value are increasing, reflective of shoppers’ desire to pick up premium products as part of their travel experience. We’re so pleased to be able to bring this momentous news release to global travellers.”

The Royal Salute Platinum Jubilee Edition is available for purchase at selected specialist retailers for US$20,000.

In addition to the creation of the whisky, the brand has also partnered with London-based jewellers Bentley + Skinner to produce a unique brooch in tribute to the Queen. The brooch will accompany a single crystal decanter and wooden box and bottling. The set will be up for auction through Christie’s on 8 June 2022.

The Royal Salute 21 Years Old The Signature Blend Singapore Edition was recently launched exclusively in Singapore’s Changi Airport.
