Nemiroff has partnered with Caribbean Wines and Spirits, which will act as the brand’s exclusive distributor in The Bahamas. The launch took place in February, just before Russia invaded Ukraine.

Yuriy Sorochynskiy, CEO of Nemiroff, said: “The first delivery was made right before the war in Ukraine started, so we didn’t have the opportunity to announce it earlier.

“The Bahamas, as a resort market, have a strong on-trade focus. So our premium portfolio and mixology expertise will perfectly suit it.”

To enhance interest in the vodka category and support Nemiroff’s growth ambitions, a local brand ambassador is being considered. The ambassador would drive mixology activations and build awareness among local bartenders.

Sorochynskiy added: “Despite the challenges Nemiroff and Ukraine are facing now, we are thrilled to announce this new market.

“Difficult times demonstrate how strong character you have is. Nemiroff has represented the Ukrainian indomitable spirit since 1872. And today, together with our partners around the world, we are getting stronger and creating a future we believe in.”

Ukrainian distillery Nemiroff was forced to temporarily close in February because of the Russian invasion, although the brand is hopeful to resume operations as soon as possible.

Fellow Ukrainian brand Xdar vodka resumed operations at its distillery in the Cherkasy region of Ukraine last week.

The Russia-Ukraine war has led to widespread boycotting of Russian goods, including vodka. Global Data believes this could create opportunities for non-Russian brands to grow, a topic The Spirits Business explored in depth in its April 2022 issue, out now.
