Brookie’s Byron Dry Gin landed in the UK in 2019, and is now expanding its distribution after securing a listing in UK supermarket Waitrose.

The brand’s distillery is located in Byron Bay, Australia, on a farm owned by the Brook family which is situated within a subtropical rainforest. Over the past 30 years, the family have regenerated and replanted more than 40,000 subtropical rainforest trees.

Co-founder Eddie Brook said: “Sustainability, giving back to the community, and rainforest regeneration are at the heart of what we do at Cape Byron Distillery. We’re so passionate about the quality of our Byron Dry Gin that is made with incredible native ingredients that grow in our regenerated rainforest on farm.”

The gin is crafted with 25 botanicals, 17 of which are native to the Byron Bay region.

The range of botanicals which infuse the spirit include aniseed myrtle, cinnamon myrtle, macadamia, mint and raspberry, which are all sourced from the native rainforest.

The resulting expression is a collaboration between master distiller Jim McEwan and Brook.

Brook added: “We are over the moon to be launching Brookie’s into Waitrose and introducing our Byron Dry Gin to their customer base.”

On the nose, the gin presents citrus notes led by aniseed and cinnamon myrtle, while the palate contains flavours of liquorice and ginger.

John Vine, spirits buyer at Waitrose, said: “Brookie’s has received international acclaim for its dry gin, and as we see the super-premium gin category continue to grow year on year, there is no better time to welcome Brookie’s into Waitrose.”

The 700ml bottling is available to purchase at Waitrose, as well as online through Waitrose Cellar. Retailing at RRP £39.95 (US$29.14), Brookie’s gin is distributed in the UK by Sea Spirits.
