Ginato makes Australian debut

Italian gin brand Ginato has gained listings with Australian drinks retailers Dan Murphy’s and BWS.

The 43% ABV gins are distributed worldwide by Kirker Greer Spirits

Two expressions in the range , Ginato Clementino and Ginato Pompelmo, will be available to buy in the Australian off-trade.

John Soden, CCO of Ginato owner Kirker Greer Spirits, said: “We have been blown away by the success of Ginato Italian Gin in every market it has entered so far, and our goal is to continue to build on that success as we introduce the product across Australia. The Australian drinks industry is extremely dynamic and we feel that Ginato will be a great addition to the Dan Murphy’s and BWS premium spirits portfolio.”

Both gins are made from Italian grapes from Friuli, with botanicals including juniper from Tuscany and citrus picked from southern Italy.

The Clementino expression adds clementine oranges to the blend, resulting in a ‘vibrant orange’ colour. Meanwhile, the Pompelmo expression is made from Sicilian pink grapefruit peel, giving the liquid a rose-pink tint.

The 43% ABV gins are stocked in all 249 Dan Murphy’s stores across Australia, as well as more than 1,500 BWS stores nationwide, retailing for AUS$64.99 (US$47.89).

Ginato Italian Gin was first released in the UK and Ireland last year, and has since been distributed to more than 20 countries including Germany, South Africa and Singapore.

Earlier this month, Kirker Greer Spirits’ Irish gin brand Jawbox moved into the ready-to-drink category, releasing its first canned cocktail range.
