Takamaka Rum prepares for global growth with redesignBy Kate Malczewski
Seychelles-based producer Takamaka has revamped its rum range as it expands into new markets.
The producer’s Seychelles Series, a collection of five rums, has gotten a new look.
The range comprises Rum Blanc, Dark Spiced, Zannannan (Pineapple), Koko (Coconut) and Overproof expressions.
Brand design agency Pearlfisher created a new label for each of the rums, drawing inspiration from the flag of the Seychelles, with the aim of appealing to ‘the on-trade and consumers alike’.
The refresh comes as Takamaka’s founders, brothers Bernard and Richard d’Offay, prepare to grow the brand’s footprint in the UK and expand its exports.
Last year, the Takamaka distillery underwent an extensive renovation and expansion. It is now the site of the first molasses distillery in the Seychelles, thanks to the installation of a new column still, bringing production to more than 200,000 litres per year.
The producer’s cane distillery was also upgraded, as two new pot stills were added to increase production to 4,500 litres per year.
To continue to drive momentum, the d’Offay brothers are planning a campaign to raise capital within the next year, and will add a range of new expressions to their portfolio over the coming months.
The Seychelles Series will roll out across the UK on-trade in July and will become available to consumers in August.
