Scallywag launches whisky-infused chocolates
By Kate MalczewskiScotch brand Scallywag has teamed up with a confectionery company to create a set of whisky-infused chocolates.

Ahead of World Chocolate Day tomorrow (7 July), the Speyside blended malt whisky producer aims to showcase its positioning as ‘the ultimate chocolate companion’ through a new collaboration with Sugarsnap Artisan Chocolate, a Glasgow-based candy maker.
To create the chocolate range, Sugarsnap founder Annette Smith infused Scallywag whisky into ganache, then decorated the chocolates with the brand colours of Scallywag’s three expressions.
Rebecca Fennell, Scallywag brand manager, said: “It’s been a real treat working with Annette at Sugarsnap on this project and we are delighted with the result of our Scallywag-inspired chocolate treasures. At Douglas Laing, we pride ourselves on producing whisky ‘as natural as it gets’ and it’s been a real joy to get behind the scenes and watch a talented individual mirror this ethos in a different, much more chocolate-y, context.”
Scallywag’s flagship expression is a blend of malts from distilleries including Mortlach, The Macallan and The Glenrothes. Sitting at 46% ABV, the liquid is matured in ex-oloroso Sherry casks and has notes of dark chocolate, stewed fruits and spiced vanilla.
The Douglas Laing-owned brand also makes a 10-year-old expression, and recently debuted its limited-release Chocolate Edition bottling.
To coincide with the collaboration’s launch, Scallywag has created a month-long social media campaign featuring a giveaway of the chocolates and a bottle of Scallywag Chocolate Edition. Consumers can enter the competition through Scallywag’s Instagram (@scallywagwhisky).
