Kavalan creates animal-inspired gift setsBy Nicola Carruthers
Taiwanese whisky producer Kavalan has revealed an exclusive gift set series inspired by the country’s exotic animal species.
The Taiwanese Native Species Exclusive Edition Gift Sets comprise three sets inspired by the country’s local animals, including the leopard cat and sika deer.
The animals represent symbols of hope and prosperity, Kavalan said.
Kavalan CEO YT Lee said each set “celebrates the richness of Taiwan’s natural beauty and biodiversity”. The gift packs have been designed by Taiwanese artist Sandy Liu.
The Mikado Pheasant set includes the Kavalan Classic Single Malt in 700ml and 50ml bottles, and a 500ml bottle of Distillery Select No.1 Single Malt.
Priced at RRP NTD$2,100 (US$75), the packaging features illustrations of the Taiwan barbet bird and a peony tree, which symbolises wealth.
The Silka Deer pack comes with a 700ml bottle of Concertmaster Port Cask Finish Single Malt, and 50ml bottles of Classic Single Malt and Distillery Select No.1 Single Malt.
With an RRP of NTD$1,500 (US$54), the set’s design features a drawing of the deer alongside three butterflies and the butterfly orchid. The orchid represents happiness and success.
Meanwhile, the Leopard Cat set contains a 700ml bottle of Solist Vinho Barrique Single Cask Strength Single Malt, and a 50ml bottle of Wine Oak Single Malt.
The packaging for the set features the leopard cat, Taiwan barbet, three butterflies, butterfly orchid and a peony tree. It is priced at RRP NTD$3,500 (US$125).
The Taiwanese Native Species Exclusive Edition Gift Sets will be available to buy in the Philippines, Guam, New Zealand, Australia, Germany, the Czech Republic and China.
In November 2020, Kavalan launched a limited edition series of whiskies in collaboration with artist Paul Chiang.
