Five products in Berry Bros’ portfolio will be sold in Waitrose stores next month

Irish whiskey Writers’ Tears Copper Pot, Spanish vermouth Vermut Lustau Blanco, bottled cocktail No.3 Vesper Martini, and Speyside single malts The Glenrothes 12 and 18 Year Old will be sold in Waitrose stores from 4 August.

John Vine, Waitrose spirits buyer, said: “Irish whiskey, vermouth and bottled cocktails are all categories seeing significant growth, which has been validated with demand from the Waitrose consumer. No. 3 Gin, Lustau, Writers’ Tears and The Glenrothes are all producers with a dedication to producing the best in category spirits and I am sure they will be popular choices.”

Ready-to-drink cocktail No.3 Vesper Martini, created in collaboration with Dukes Bar’s Alessandro Palazzi and made with No.3 Gin, was released as a permanent product in April 2021. It will be available in 150 Waitrose stores.

Writers’ Tears Copper Pot, produced by Ireland’s Walsh Whiskey Distillery, will be sold in 110 Waitrose stores. The deal marks the company’s second national listing for the product after Marks & Spencer. Walsh Whiskey joined Berry Bros’ portfolio in April.

Vermut Lustau Blanco will be offered in 160 stores, joining the brand’s existing rosé and rojo vermouths in Waitrose.

The Glenrothes bottlings will be available online and in select Waitrose stores.

Roy Evans, marketing and sales director, Berry Bros & Rudd, added: “The five new listings are a wonderful endorsement, both for the newly listed brands and for our work with Waitrose to date.

“Having already seen strong year-on-year growth within Waitrose for No.3 Gin, The King’s Ginger and Lustau Vermut, we know that our premium and luxury spirits portfolio resonates with the discerning Waitrose consumer.”

Earlier this month, Berry Bros & Rudd unveiled a new design for its spirits portfolio and launched a heritage-inspired campaign.
