Chef Marco Pierre White launches gin
Celebrity chef Marco Pierre White has moved into spirits with the launch of his own London Dry gin.
The limited edition gin, called Mr White’s after the famed restaurateur, was created by White and master distiller Dai Wakely, from the Cygnet Distillery in Wales.
The gin is said to be juniper-forward and includes botanicals such as hand-peeled orange, lemon verbena and fresh lavender.
Bottled at 40% ABV, Mr White’s is available in 700ml bottles, priced at £54.95 (US$77).
White said: “I distinctly remember the captivating smell of the juniper berries being distilled at Booth’s Gin distillery on Wandsworth Bridge, as I made my way to and from Harveys on Wandsworth Common, London.
“The smell takes me back to memorable moments from my days spent back in the capital all those years ago.
“And at a time when more than ever people are interested in the provenance and authenticity of what they are drinking, [it] is precisely what this new gin is all about.”
For those new to gin and looking to build their home collections, or long-term juniper fans keen to add something new to their bottlings, SB editor Melita Kiely has highlighted five exceptional expressions worth looking into.
