Vinexpo NY to hold seminar on tariff suspension

Trade show Vinexpo New York is preparing to host its next Virtual Buzz discussion, which will focus on the suspension of tariffs between the US and the EU.

Vinexpo New York Buzz
Vinexpo New York will discuss the impact of the US-EU tariff suspension

The discussion will feature Vela McClam Mitchell Thomas, CEO of Lemae Group Wines in the US; Robert Tobiassen, president, National Association of Beverage Importers in Washington DC; Luis Gouveia, sales and marketing director of DFJ Vinhos in Portugal; and Fabrice Roelandt, export manager of Vignerons Associés in France.

McClam Mitchell Thomas will moderate the talk and ask questions regarding US importers, the impact tariffs have had at all levels of the three-tiered system in the State, and the opportunities the suspension presents.

In March this year, the US and the EU agreed to a four-month suspension of tariffs on products from both nations, including rum, vodka and Cognac. The tariffs were part of a 16-year dispute between aircraft manufacturers Airbus and Boeing.

Gouveia and Roelandt will share their experiences of the tariffs, while Tobiassen will offer insight from the National Association of Beverage Importers and advice on what industry professionals can do.

Those keen to attend the virtual discussion should register by 16 April by visiting vinexponewyork.com.

A link will be emailed to those who register once the session has been made available.
