Indonesian rum brand Nusa Caña is aiming to raise £400,000 (US$548,000) on investment platform Crowdcube to support its expansion plans.

Nusa Caña Spiced Island Rum launched in April 2020

Founded by Marc Rodrigues, Joe Milner, Andy Gaunt and and Sam Jeveons in 2015, Nusa Caña will use the funds to help grow volumes in the UK’s physical and online retail channels.

The money will also help to build brand awareness through event- and brand-based digital marketing.

Rodrigues, managing director of Nusa Caña, said: “Indonesia’s part in the story of cane spirits, and therefore rum, is both compelling and valid.

“Our vision in launching the Nusa Caña brand is to bring back this forgotten story of Indonesian rum.”

Since the brand was established it has sold more than 34,000 4.2-litre cases globally, and also won Gold medals in The Spirits Business Rum Masters 2020 blind-tasting competition.

At the time of writing, Nusa Caña had raised £327,260 (US$451,080) of its £400,000 target.
