Nuno do Amaral joins IAADFS board
The International Association of Airport and Duty Free Stores (IAADFS) has appointed Nuno do Amaral to its board of directors.
Do Amaral, chief operations and business development officer at Aer Rianta International (ARI), has joined the IAADFS board to fill the seat vacated by Gerry Crawford, who recently left the industry.
“We are delighted to have Nuno join the board,” said Michael Payne, president and CEO of IAADFS.
“His broad range of experience in the industry and the experience that he brings from his service to other industry organisations will be significant assets for IAADFS.”
In his current role with ARI, do Amaral has operational responsibility across the globe with a focus on retail performance, standards and excellence. Since January 2021, he has also been responsible for global business development and the set-up of new operations. Do Amaral also leads the group’s sustainability programme.
He said: “I am looking forward to serving on the IAADFS board of directors and helping the organisation provide value to its members, as well as the duty free and travel retail industry as a whole.”
Do Amaral joined ARI in 2014 and was the CEO of the Middle East region until 2019, when he moved to the company headquarters in Dublin. He is currently a member of the Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association board, and previously acted as vice president of the Middle East and Africa Duty Free Association.
Rene Riedi, chairman of the IAADFS board, added: “Nuno brings a unique perspective and a global insight to the board role as well as the historical and ongoing involvement of ARI in the North American and Caribbean duty free and travel retail market.”
