Rockstar Spirits gains Australia listing

Manchester-based Rockstar Spirits has launched four of its rums in Australia after securing a distribution deal with Woolworths Group.

Manchester-based Rockstar Spirits will launch four rums in Australia

The deal will see four Rockstar Spirits listed in Dan Murphy’s stores, which is owned by the Woolworths Group and currently operates 226 sites across the country.

Dan Murphy’s stores will list the Captn Webb Two Swallows series, including the Citrus and Salted Caramel, Cherry and Salted Caramel, and Orange and Ginger expressions, and Banana Bomb rum, a 57% ABV navy strength bottling.

Tom Hurst, founder and CEO of Rockstar Spirits said: “I set a key goal every year for Rockstar, and in 2020 the goal was to deliver a national listing with a top supermarket in the UK, which I delivered with a Sainsbury’s listing in Q1.

“The goal for 2021 was to deliver our first major export deal and I believe that working with Woolworths has delivered this objective in Q1 again and puts us in a good place to continue our strong growth curve despite all the challenges we have seen from events of the Covid-19 pandemic.”

The deal is said to secure an immediate national footprint across Australia for the brand, including a presence in every major town and city.

The first orders secured at Dan Murphy’s are worth AU$220,000 (US$170,000), with a goal of delivering AU$500,000 (US$387,000) worth of rum in the first year. The initial stock is currently being shipped to Australia and will be sold in stores from early May.

Last year, Rockstar Spirits secured a five-figure loan from GC Business Finance to help develop new products and meet growing demand from retailers. The company saw a sales increase of 550% in 2020.
