High West Distillery Après Ski

Utah-based High West Distillery partnered with Park City Mountain Resort to create a snow globe-inspired après ski offering.

At the distillery’s Nelson Cottage outpost in Park City, High West has created heated snow globes that can accommodate up to eight people. The spaces offer panoramic views of the Wasatch mountains, which can be enjoyed alongside the High West Manhattan fondue, smoked Rocky Mountain trout, and the High West Hot Toddy.

The snow globes can be booked through the High West Distillery website.

Compass Box Burns Night

London restaurant Joy at Portobello partnered with independent bottler Compass Box to create a Burns supper for drinkers to enjoy at home.

Available to drinkers within a 10-mile radius of the London venue, the offering includes a three course menu developed by chef Stevie Parle. The menu was created to pair with three core range whiskies from Compass Box.

Priced at £85 (US$116) for two people, the Burns Night feast also includes a pre-batched twist on the Negroni, made with Compass Box The Spice Tree rather than gin.

The Whisky Exchange Virtual Quiz

Also celebrating the life of Scottish poet Robert Burns next week will be spirits retailer The Whisky Exchange.

On Monday, The Whisky Exchange will launch a virtual Burns Night Quiz, hosted by The Whisky Exchange ambassador Billy Abbott (pictured), and head buyer at The Whisky Exchange Dawn Davies MW.

The quiz is free to attend and will be held on Zoom from 6:30pm GMT on Monday (25 January). To register, head to The Whisky Exchange website.

Dewar’s Burns Night cook-along

Helping drinkers prepare their Burns supper this year is Scotch whisky Dewar’s, which will host a cook-along on Facebook.

During the event, brand ambassador Gary Ross will talk participants through the Dewar’s whisky portfolio, while head chef and owner of luxury hotel and restaurant Ballintaggart, Chris Rowley, will demonstrate how to make a whisky sauce.

The cook-along will run on Facebook Live from 6pm GMT on Monday (25 January). The stream can be accessed from the Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery Facebook page.

Oblix afternoon tea

Sky-high bar and restaurant Oblix has launched an afternoon tea offering for home-delivery to drinkers in London.

Available from Friday to Sunday, the afternoon tea offering includes sandwiches such as Wagyu beef and horseradish; sweet treats and pastries, including mini mandarin and Sherry cheesecakes; and a variety of freshly baked scones, served with jam, honeycomb and clotted cream.

Priced from £75 (US$102) for two, the afternoon tea can be ordered alongside a selection of cocktail kits, including an Old Fashioned, Espresso Martini or Negroni. To order, visit london.zumarestaurant.com.

Hospitality Recovery Forum

On Monday (25 January), event organiser Business Live UK will host its Hospitality Recovery Forum to offer advice and support for businesses affected by the pandemic. 

The event will run on 25 January from 10am to 11am GMT and will feature discussions led by experts including Matt Panton, accountant within the hospitality industry; Dave Sinclair, videographer within the hospitality industry; and Sheila Smith, an exhibitions and virtual events expert. 

The forum is free to attend and guests are encouraged to register in advance through Eventbrite.

Spirits-infused Burns Night recipes

Drinks retailer The Bottle Club has created a menu of spirits-infused recipes for drinkers to cook up at their Burns suppers this week.

Created as a way to use up leftover Christmas spirits, the selection of dishes includes a Sherry and Drambuie-infused trifle, Scotch whisky-flavoured chocolate haggis (pictured), rum-soaked hot cross buns and whisky-cured salmon.

Junior the Pocket Bar Chinese New Year

Ahead of Chinese New Year (12 February), Singapore venue Junior the Pocket Bar has partnered with brandy maker Rémy Martin to create a menu of signature cocktails.

As drinkers prepare to welcome the new year, Junior the Pocket Bar and Rémy Martin have crafted a selection of cocktails and Chinese New Year treats that celebrate the incoming year of the ox.

Available from 27 January, drinkers can enjoy the Rolling for Prosperity, made with Rémy Martin VSOP, pineapple, spiced brown butter rum and lemon, and the Ang Bao Na Lai, which combines The Botanist Dry Gin, lychee, grapefruit, lemon and rose.
