Bacardi rum launched a global call for vocal and dance submissions in November to re-record the 1985 song Conga, originally performed by Gloria Estefan and co-produced by Emilio Estefan.

The remake features lead vocals from three-time Latin Grammy Awards nominee Leslie Grace, and rap verses by Grammy-nominated musician Meek Mill. The song was produced by Grammy award-winner Boi-1da.

The song provides the soundtrack to the Conga Feat. You campaign. In the music video, Leslie Grace, Meek Mill and Boi-1da move through the Caribbean, and as they do so user-submitted dance footage begins to sync with the artists’ choreography.

The three artists then ‘visually pull’ people from their own worlds and inset them into the ‘Caribbean world’.

Ned Duggan, global senior vice president for Bacardi rum, said: “Over the past month, we closely reviewed all the incredible fan submissions from around the world and incorporated a select number into the final music video alongside the artists.

“We’ve always seen music as such a powerful force in bringing people together and as the world trended toward division and isolation this past year, we wanted to use music as a catalyst to bring people back together in a way that has never been done before. We can’t wait for you to see it.”
