Italicus unveils Aperitivo Challenge Glo-Cal Edition

Italian brand Italicus has launched a new iteration of its Aperitivo Challenge to raise awareness of local bars through the creation of city-inspired cocktails.

Italicus has launched its Aperitivo Challenge Glo-Cal Edition

The Art of Italicus 2020, Aperitivo Challenge Glo-Cal Edition has been inspired by the mantra “thinking global, with local ingredients”.

As part of the contest, bartenders in 80 bars across 10 global cities have been invited to create artistic cocktails inspired by their city. The contest aims to raise awareness and support for bars and bartenders around the world.

Each participating bartender will create an Italicus aperitivo cocktail inspired by their city or region. The Italian brand will then work with each competitor to produce content for them to use to promote their venue across social media.

One bartender in each city will be chosen, before the best aperitivo cocktail and overall activation will be selected and crowned Best Italicus Bar Artist 2020. The winning bartender will have the opportunity to showcase their work through a promotional video created in collaboration with Italicus.

Bars in London, Paris, Milan, Rome, Stockholm, Athens, Barcelona, New York, Las Vegas and Miami have all been invited to take part in the contest.

Participating venues include The Coral Room in London, where bar manager Giovanni Spezziga has created the Italicus High Tea serve using Italicus, raspberry jam, bitter orange and English sparkling wine, and London’s The Connaught bar, where head mixologist Giorgio Bargiani and director of mixology Ago Perrone have created The Shape of Silence inspired by the artwork in the hotel’s entrance.

Other participating venues around the world include No Entry and Le Purdey, in Paris; Supper and Tak, in Stockholm; and Diamond Dogs and Finback, in New York.
