Experience Glasgow offers training for out of work bartenders

Scottish drinks industry group Experience Glasgow has launched a talent programme that offers training to on-trade professionals made redundant as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Glasgow Talent Programme will launch next month and will provide complimentary mentoring and guidance to members of Glasgow’s tourism and hospitality community who are looking for new roles within the industry after being made redundant.

The programme, which was developed by Experience Glasgow with support from Scottish Enterprise, will offer direction and support for workers across the hospitality sector until April 2021.

Services include workshops covering confidence-building, personal development and HR, recruitment opportunities and transferable skills, emotional and mental wellbeing, and PR, marketing and digital.

Gordon McIntyre, vice chairman of Experience Glasgow, said: “The hospitality and tourism industry is one of the biggest in Scotland. It does a fantastic job of contributing to the economy and is an industry that has arguably suffered the most as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Glasgow needs to do all it can to support the industry and to help it grow back to its best. The launch of the Glasgow Talent Programme provides hope for the sector as well as much needed guidance and support for employees affected as a result.”

Businesses and individuals who wish to be considered for the programme are invited to register their interest with Experience Glasgow online.

Last month, Experience Glasgow and Scottish on-trade charity Hospitality Health launched an Anxiety Toolkit to help bartenders struggling with their mental wellbeing.
