Dictador adds Tokaji-finished rum to Two Masters
Colombian rum producer Dictador has partnered with Hungarian wine maker Royal Tokaji for the latest release in its cask-finished Two Masters series.

Dictador Two Masters Royal Tokaji is a 40-year-old rum from 1977, which has undergone additional maturation in the cellars of the Royal Tokaji Wine Company in Hungary.
The latest addition to the Two Masters series, the new rum saw Dictador master blender Hernan Parra collaborate with Royal Tokaji master blender Zoltán Kovács.
Dictador filled 10 barrels from Royal Tokaji with 1977 vintage rum. The barrels had previously been filled with 2016 Royal Tokaji Aszú 6 Puttonyos and had been used in the maturation of wine for 12 to 14 years.
The rum underwent a seven month finishing period in the ex-Royal Tokaji casks, which imparted complex aromas of “tropical fruits and nice honey”, as well as flavours of Madagascan vanilla, honey and chocolate.
Parra said: “In the depths of the 13th century Royal Tokaji wine cellar, our rum has developed a new and extraordinary finish. Its palate is elegant and balanced, smooth and rich, with a good attack and a persistent finish.
“The Tokaji Aszú aroma has made a remarkable mark too. Dictador Two Masters Royal Tokaji is complex and rich, with hints of tropical fruits and a nice honey touch on the nose.”
Just 475 bottles of Dictador Two Masters Royal Tokaji will be available to purchase worldwide, priced at £670 (US$860).
In November 2017, Dictador collaborated with wine and spirits producers to create Two Masters rum, aged in whisky, Cognac and wine casks.
