Edrington GTR names new regional managing director

Edrington Global Travel Retail has restructured its organisation and appointed Jeremy Speirs as regional managing director.

Jeremy Speirs will take over as regional managing director, Edrington Global Travel Retail, from 1 September

Speirs, who previously worked as managing director for Europe, Middle East & Africa travel retail, will assume the new role from 1 September.

He has worked for Edrington for 15 years in numerous commercial roles, where he has been credited for boosting The Macallan’s growth, particularly in Asia Pacific during his five-year tenure in the region from 2010.

From September, Edrington GTR will also split key operations between two hubs in Singapore and Glasgow.

Marketing and commercial teams will be run out of Singapore, keeping close to Asian travellers and expected growth opportunities in the region.

Meanwhile, finance and supply chain functions will be looked after in Glasgow to give a global reach across time zones and accessibility to key global retailers.

Speirs said: “This restructuring allows us to deliver a more agile response to the needs of our retail customers in a much-changed landscape while retaining a global footprint to accelerate growth as the travel industry recovers.

Suzy Smith will move into the role of director of strategy and innovation, Edrington Global Travel Retail

“Travel retail remains strategically important to Edrington and we are fully committed to our partners, to The Macallan Boutique programme and to delivering the innovation for which our brands have become known in this channel.”

Speirs will take over from Suzy Smith, who will return from Singapore to Glasgow and into the post of director of strategy and innovation.

Speirs commented: “As I look ahead to Edrington Global Travel Retail’s next chapter, I’m fortunate to take over from Suzy, under whose leadership our reputation and credentials in luxury spirits have been strengthened through numerous high-profile initiatives including the successful rollout of The Macallan Boutique programme.”
