Bimber unveils seven new single malt whiskies

London-based Bimber Distillery will launch seven new whiskies next week, including six single cask expressions.

Bimber has unveiled seven new whiskies that are set to launch this month (June)

The whiskies will also include Batch 001 of Bimber’s Ex-Bourbon Oak Casks single malt. The whisky has been made from a vatting of American oak ex-Bourbon casks laid down in 2016 when Bimber started production.

The first batch has been bottled at 51.8% ABV and is limited to 1,948 bottles priced at RRP £65 (US$82) per 700ml bottle. Tasting notes include green apple peel and dried stone fruits on the nose, leading to baked apricots and a “sprightly pepper spicing” on the palate.

Founder and master distiller Darius Plazewski said: “Whilst the last few months have presented challenges to the distillery and my team, it is a great pleasure to unveil our latest English single malt whiskies.

“Our newest small batch release is very much the successor to our Re-Charred Oak Casks single malt – it skilfully demonstrates how ex-Bourbon wood perfectly complements the underlying character of our accessible fruit-forward spirit.”

Three of the six single cask whiskies will be made available for the UK market, while the remaining three have been designated for export markets.

The UK releases will include: Ex-Bourbon Cask #8 (58.3%, RRP £79.95/US$100); Virgin Cask #7 (57.8%, RRP £79.95); and Sherry Cask #42 (58.1% ABV, RRP £84.95/US$107).

The export market releases will comprise: Ex-Bourbon Cask #15 (58.1% ABV, RRP £79.95); Virgin Cask #94 (57.4% ABV, RRP £79.95); and Sherry Cask #41 (57.9% ABV, RRP £84.95).

The number of bottles of each expression ranges from 249 to 335. The UK market release date will be 9 June when the whiskies will be available to purchase from the distillery website, while the export market releases will be available from mid-June.
