Wine & Spirits Show names 2020 exhibitors

The Spirits Business and the drinks business have revealed the first spirits exhibitors confirmed for the upcoming Wine & Spirits Show in April.

The Wine & Spirits Show is held on 3-4 April in London

Launched in collaboration between the two magazines, The Wine & Spirits Show will return to The Royal Horseguards Hotel in London on 3 and 4 April.

Returning to this year’s show as an exhibitor is independent Scotch whisky producer Angus Dundee Distillers. The company owns Tomintoul distillery in Speyside and Glencadam at Brechin, in the east of Scotland.

Offering a range of plant-based drinks, free from dairy, will be Alternative Liqueurs. The producer will be showcasing its Besos de Oro Original Liqueur and Besos de Oro Chocolate Liqueur, which are both bottled at 18% ABV.

Besos de Oro offers dairy-free liqueurs

Based in Nottingham, UK, Alternative Liqueurs was founded when inventor Peter Smith mixed brandy with a Spanish drink known as horchata while living in Spain. Besos de Oro means ‘kisses of gold’ in Spanish, and is a blend of horchata and brandy from Jerez, Spain.

Also taking a stand at the show will be Dark Marina vodka, based in Rugby, UK. The eight-strong range is made with “natural-grown” ingredients and fruit from regional markets.

At the show, Dark Marina will present its flavoured variants Blackcurrant, Cherry, Caramel and Rubin, the latter of which is made from the hibiscus flower.

The vodkas are recommended served neat or with mixers such as Coke or tonic water. The producer hopes to connect with UK retailers at the show.

New product Mainbrace Rum will also be exhibiting at the event. The expression, which launched at London’s Rum Fest in October 2019, is a blend of Guyanese rum and agricole rum from Martinique.

The “smooth and balanced rum” will be targeting the on-trade and will be presenting its rum in a variety of serves, including bespoke cocktails, at the show.

Founded in March 2019, Mycroft Gin will also be available to sample at the show. The gin is distilled in Scotland using 95% green energy and is made with locally sourced spring water. It is available for sale in the UK and Europe. The unicorn logo for the gin pays homage to Mycroft’s Scottish roots.

Guests will also be able to sample award-winning wines and spirits from The Global Spirits Masters and Global Wine Masters series of blind-tasting competitions.

Never Never Distilling Co and Edinburgh Gin are among some of the high-scoring brands that will be available to taste.

A full schedule of masterclasses will be announced in the coming weeks.
