JJ Corry celebrates women with blended grain whiskey

Irish whiskey bonder JJ Corry partnered with design duo Jill & Gill to create a limited edition blended grain in celebration of International Women’s Day (8 March).

JJ Corry The Whiskey Thief will be auctioned for charity

The Irish whiskey bonder will release 100 bottles of The Whiskey Thief (46% ABV) at 5pm on 16 March through online auctioneer celticwhiskeyauction.com.

International Women’s Day 2020 took place last Sunday 8 March.

Louise McGuane, founder of the Irish firm, said: “At JJ Corry we are all about supporting women in business as well as any advocate of positive change, whatever space in which that may be.

“This release is our salute to the women breaking ground in the spirits industry and a nod to change. This launch is the first part of a wider campaign by JJ Corry to celebrate women in the drinks industry.”

The Whiskey Thief is the first grain-based release from JJ Corry and uses a blend of Irish grain whiskeys from multiple distilleries.

McGuane added: “Creating a blended grain expression is emphatic for us as bonders, as our business model centres on our acquiring whiskey from multiple sources. As Bonders, we are curators of casks, building a library of Irish whiskey flavours which allow us to produce unique blends like this one.”

The company’s latest release takes its name from a tool that is used when taking cask samples, which McGuane said also pays tribute to her role as a whiskey bonder.

All proceeds from the sale will be donated to Irish charity Dress for Success Dublin.

Sonya Lennon, founder of the charity, said: “I’m delighted that JJ Corry have chosen to support Dress for Success Dublin, and the work we do with women across Ireland this International Women’s Day.

“The funds raised from the sale of this limited release will have a great impact, enabling us to continue our work supporting women to (re)enter the workforce through our professional suiting, career coaching services and other programmes that we offer. Thank you to all the team at JJ Corry for your generosity, creativity and impact and happy International Women’s Day 2020.”
