Jameson visits ‘world’s highest Irish bar’

Ahead of St Patrick’s Day (17 March), Pernod Ricard-owned Jameson Irish whiskey travelled to the “world’s highest Irish bar” in Namche Bazaar, Nepal.

A team of Jameson fans travelled to the “world’s highest Irish bar”, which is located 3,440m above sea level.

The “world’s most remote Irish pub” in Namche Bazaar is deep in the Himalayan mountains in a spot that is often the last stop adventurers make before trekking to Everest Base Camp.

Jameson’s “welcoming spot” is said to be the “embodiment of true Irish spirit” and will be a space for crusaders to “settle in and share their travel stories over a well-earned drink”.

The brands trek to the bar follows the release of Jameson’s annual St Patrick’s Day bottling, which was this year designed by illustrator Stephen ‘Hephee’ Heffernan. The 2020 bottling features near field communication (NFC) technology that enables fans to customise their own Jameson label through hidden icons.

Last month, the whiskey brand also unveiled a multi-million-pound marketing push in the UK that celebrates “sociability” ahead of the annual Irish holiday.
