Collagin launches £100,000 crowdfunding campaign

Collagen-infused gin Collagin has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise £100,000 (US$128,000) to support its international growth plans and ensure it can keep up with UK demand.

Collagin released a rose-flavoured pink gin in 2018

Collagin was co-founded by Liz Beswick and Cam Brown and is made with 11 botanicals including pink grapefruit and orris root. After distillation, pure bovine collagen is added to the gin, but this is said to neither “affect nor enhance” the flavour.

The funding will also be used to launch a new flavour and new products, including a line of ready-to-drink (RTD) cans.

The campaign on Crowdcube has already raised more than £20,000 (US$25,500).

In 2018, the co-founders appeared in BBC TV show Dragons’ Den where they received an offer of £50,000 (around US$65,139 at the time) to help the brand grow internationally.

So far, 27,000 bottles of Collagin have been sold. The brand has listings with more than 200 stockists in the UK, including Ocado and Amazon.

Collagin brought out a rose-flavoured expression in 2018 as it joined the growing number of pin gins on the market.
