Tomintoul debuts 16yo Peaty Tang
Speyside distillery Tomintoul has released a 16-year-old single malt exclusively for members of the Swedish Whisky Federation.
Members of whisky clubs across Sweden can grab their hands on the 16-year-old Tomintoul Peaty Tang
The limited edition Tomintoul Peaty Tang 16 Year Old has been chosen by the Swedish Whisky Federation.
The whisky was selected due to the popularity of the existing Tomintoul Peaty Tang in Sweden, which is widely available in Systembolaget stores across the country. It is distilled using heavily peated malted barley and peat from the Scottish Highlands, which is said to give the whisky a “bonfire, heathery smokiness”.
On the nose, the whisky has notes of burnt heather, apple, caramelised orange, liquorices, sweet honey and vanilla fudge.
The palate is said to be “chewy with layers of burnt sugar, damp peat, white pepper and tar smokiness, highlighted with a vanilla pod and molasses sweetness”. The finish is described as “smoky and sweet with notes of marzipan, fireside smoke and liquorice that leave a peppery, malty linger”.
The expression is the oldest Tomintoul Peaty Tang to have ever been released.
Bottled at 46% ABV, Tomintoul Peaty Tang 16 Year Old is only available to members of whisky clubs within the Swedish Whisky Federation.
