Think Spirits supports Australian wildfire relief efforts

Amber Beverage Group-owned distributor Think Spirits has donated AU$100,000 (US$67,000) to support the rescue and recovery of koalas affected by bushfires in Australia.

Think Spirits’ donation will help ensure koalas impacted by fires in Australia receive veterinary care

The Australian spirits distributor, which was acquired by Amber Beverage Group in 2018, donated the funds to the World Wildlife Fund for Nature, launched by WWF Australia.

The fund aims to collect AU$30 million (US$44m) to ensure koalas impacted by the fires can receive veterinary care across Australia. It’s estimated that more than 8,000 koalas have perished in fires on the mid-north coast of New South Wales, and Kangaroo Island in south Australia has lost more than 50% of its koala population.

Think Spirits’ donation will help to provide food and water for koalas that are starving in bushfire impacted regions.

Patrick Borg, managing director of Think Spirits, said: “The last few months were difficult for many families here, in Australia. Happily, none of the Think Spirits family has directly suffered from the fire. Our hearts go out to everyone affected by these horrific and unprecedented bushfires. The loss of human life, wildlife, homes and bushland has been extremely difficult to comprehend.

“This is a devastating blow for an iconic species already in decline, so it is an absolute honour to pledge AU$100,000 to WWF-Australia on behalf of Think Spirits and our parent company Amber Beverage Group.”
