BrewDog to turn waste beer into vodka
Scottish brewer and distiller BrewDog will turn waste beer into vodka as part of its new sustainability initiative.

As it moves into its 13th year of trading, the independent drinks producer has unveiled its BrewDog Tomorrow sustainability initiative, which charts a new six-point plan for the business going forward.
As well as steps to increase recycling and a scheme that will see it refill beer cans in the US, BrewDog will also turn “imperfect” beer from its breweries into vodka.
The producer said that instead of wasting beer that misses its standards, BrewDog will distil it and turn it into vodka to reduce wastage across its breweries.
James Watt, BrewDog co-founder, said: “BrewDog may have grown up a bit, but our underdog spirit is as alive as ever. We want to make sure that we’re working to inspire a new kind of business, with sustainability at its core.
“Real change takes time. But just because change doesn’t happen overnight, doesn’t mean it can’t – if not now, when? BrewDog Tomorrow is our commitment to continuously raising the bar and setting a new standard for beer and business.”
BrewDog currently operates four breweries around the world. At it’s Scottish site, the company produces a range of beer as well as spirits through its BrewDog Distilling arm.
The BrewDog Distilling portfolio consists of Lone Wolf and Zealots Heart gins, as well as Rogue Wave vodka. The firm also launched a botanical rum last year.
