Blair Athol debuts distillery-exclusive bottling
By Nicola CarruthersDiageo has released a limited edition Blair Athol single malt whisky, which is available exclusively from the Highland distillery.
There are just 6,000 bottles of Blair Athol 2019 Distillery Exclusive whisky available
Limited to 6,000 bottles, Blair Athol 2019 Distillery Exclusive has matured in a combination of refill rejuvenated and American oak ex-Bourbon casks.
On the nose, the no-age-statement whisky has an “initial fragrance of vibrant green orchard fruits with baking spices including nutmeg and allspice, accompanied by a sweetness from combined vanilla, brown sugars, liquorice and toffee flavours”.
The palate has a “smooth vanilla creaminess allied with notes of red apple, dried fruit and toasted nuts”.
The addition of a few drops of water gives the whisky pronounced woody notes, followed by hints of vanilla, toffee, and pepper.
Neil Murphy, senior site manager at Blair Athol, said: “We are proud to present this rare expression of whisky in our Distillery Exclusive bottle.
“The unique flavour and distillery character of this malt whisky owes much to the location of the distillery in the foothills of the Grampian Mountains, but more to the traditional skills of our expert team. It’s a tasting experience that lovers of Blair Athol and whisky are sure to enjoy.”
Bottled at 48% ABV, Blair Athol 2019 Distillery Exclusive is priced at £90 (US$117) per 700ml.
