Diageo-owned gin brand Tanqueray opened its Tanqueray Townhouse at London’s Bloomsbury House this week.

The festive takeover launched with a VIP party that saw guests including actor Luke Evans (pictured centre) and singer Pixie Lott (left) in attendance.

Running until 14 December, visitors to the Tanqueray Townhouse will be able to sample signature serves as they explore different areas within the house – including The Aura Room, where guests can use facial recognition to uncover their perfect Tanqueray cocktail.

This week, Almost Famous star Kate Hudson hosted an intimate cocktail hour to celebrate the launch of her vodka brand, King St.

Hudson announced plans to release King St Vodka last month, and marked the brand’s launch by stepping behind the bar to mix up Dirty Martinis for her assembled guests.

The celebration was hosted at King Restaurant on King St in New York to honour the name of the vodka, which was inspired by Hudson’s days hosting friends when she lived on the street.

London’s Hard Rock Cafe host a star-studded Christmas party in aid of children’s charity Fight For Life.

Attended by children that benefit from the charity’s work and their families, the evening featured performances from Britain’s Got Talent winner Richard Jones and Nate James from The Voice.

The evening also saw appearances from S Club’s Rachel Stevens (pictured), former footballer Gary Lineker and barrister Robert Rinder.

The Underground at The Mob Museum in Las Vegas celebrated Repeal Day (5 December) with a 1920s-inspired party.

The evening saw guests in 1920s attire sip period cocktails and moonshine while they danced the night away with live jazz and swing music.

Repeal Day 2019 marked 86 years since the repeal of Prohibition in the US.

On Tuesday, William Grant & Sons held a launch party for the latest expression in its “sustainable” Discarded line – Discarded Banana Peel Rum.

The event, which took place at London bar Fam, featured cocktails made with the new rum and a brand presentation.

The rum is made with used banana peel, an “overlooked ingredient” that is usually binned, and is recommended served in rum-based serves such as a Daiquiri. It will launch in the UK on-trade in January 2020.

Grey Goose hosted the final instalment in its festive brunch series, which featured stars of the London drag scene Freida Slaves and Baby Lame.

The Spirit of Christmas bunch series ran at Covent Garden gourmet kebab shop Maison Bab and featured everything from mince pie-topped cocktails to Mariah Carey-inspired drag acts.

To mark the end of US art festival Miami Art Week, Bacardi took its Rum Room activation to the city to close the event in style.

Featuring performances from Swizz Beatz, the activation was an immersive rum-filled exploration of the Bacardi portfolio.

The event saw Faena Forum in Miami Beach transform into a rum oasis, with dedicated rooms championing each of the aged rum expressions in Bacardi’s portfolio.

Dublin cocktail bar Bar 1661 was named Ireland’s Best Cocktail Bar at this year’s Irish Craft Cocktail Awards.

The bar, which opened in April, picked up four gongs on the night, including Ireland’s Best New Cocktail Bar, Best Bar Team and Best Cocktail Bar Dublin.

Bar 1661 was founded by Dave Mulligan, who was also nominated for Best Brand Representative for Bán Poitín.

South Carolina-based Firefly Distillery installed its stills this week as construction of the new site nears completion.

The distillery team fitted two Vendome stills at the brand’s site, including a 500-gallon still and a smaller 50-gallon unit that will allow the team to create “experimental and small-batch runs”.

Firefly Distillery aims to produce its first batch of Bourbon using the stills in February next year.
