Pernod appoints new UK marketing director

Raja Banerji has been named the new marketing director of Pernod Ricard UK, taking over from Philip Ainsworth.

Banerji has previously worked as assistant VP, marketing, at Pernod Ricard India.

He has also joined Pernod Ricard UK’s executive committee, based in London, and will report to managing director David Haworth.

Haworth said: “Raja has a wealth of experience across sales and marketing within the drinks industry in India, having held roles within Bacardi and Beam in addition to Pernod Ricard.

“I am delighted to be welcoming him onboard at an exciting time for the business, as we look to continue driving momentum within wine and spirits with our enviable portfolio of premium brands for all moments of conviviality.”

Banerji started his career as a sales trainee with Bakeman’s Industries in 1993. He then moved to Bacardi-Martini in 1997, working across positions such as assistant manager new projects, and regional sales manager.

He became senior marketing manager for Pernod Ricard India in 2002, and was promoted to assistant general manager, marketing, in 2005. In 2007, he became marketing director for Beam Gloal Spitis and Wines.

He then re-joined Pernod Ricard India in 2008 as general manager, strategic planning and export sales, and was appointed to his current role of assistant VP, marketing, Pernod Ricard India, in 2011.

Last month, Paul Duffy, chairman and CEO of Pernod Ricard North America, revealed he would leave the company in December.
