Chairman’s Reserve adds 19yo rum to Master’s Selection
Saint Lucia Distillers has added a 19-year-old single barrel rum to its Chairman’s Reserve Master’s Selection series of limited edition bottlings.
Chairman’s Reserve Master’s Selection was aged for 19 years in ex-Bourbon casks
Chairman’s Reserve Master’s Selection was distilled from molasses in the John Dore One pot still in 2000.
The spirit was then filled into an ex-Bourbon cask and left to mature in the tropical Caribbean climate, before being bottled without added sugar.
Chairman’s Reserve Master’s Selection is said to “roughly mimic the flavour profile of the original Mai Tai rum, Wray and Nephew 17 Year Old”.
The latest release is the second instalment in the brand’s Master’s Selection series, which was launched to explore the different components and conditions that affect rum production, including distillate ingredients, the barrels used in maturation and the use of age statements.
Bottled at 53.1% ABV, Chairman’s Reserve will release 341 bottles of Master’s Selection, each priced at US$199.99 per 750ml.
Saint Lucia Distillers recently paid homage to “rum philosophy and craft” with the release of the limited edition Chairman’s Reserve 1931.
The Caribbean rum producer’s casks were also recently used by Walsh Whiskey in the maturation of its The Irishman Founder’s Reserve – Caribbean Cask Finish.
