Mezcal subscription service launches in US

Online agave spirits retailer Maguey Melate has launched a bi-monthly mezcal subscription service to give consumers the chance to sample rare expressions that are unavailable elsewhere in the US.

Maguey Melate will post two bottles of agave spirit to subscribers of its Mezcalero oftThe Month Club

Maguey Melate is based in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, and will post two limited edition 375ml bottles of agave spirits to subscribers every two months as part of its Mezcalero of the Month Club subscription service.

Each agave spirit will highlight a different producer, with the November delivery celebrating Felipe Cortés Venegas, a third generation mezcalero from Mengolí de Morelos, Miahuatlán de Porfirio Díaz, Oaxaca.

In addition to the specially released spirits, Mezcalero of the Month Club subscribers will receive information about each bottling, the producer, and access to photos and videos explaining each expression.

Priced at US$115 every two months, the subscription also includes a donation to Mexico-based charity Sacred, which will plant one maguey tobala agave for each subscriber.

Maguey Melate also offers the Melate’s Signature Box for agave spirits fans who aren’t able to subscribe for regular deliveries.

Each box includes three 375ml bottles of agave spirit, a handmade clay cup, three hand-carved mezcal cups, two sipping glasses made from recycled glass, a limited edition artwork, three wood corks, and more. Melate’s Signature Box is priced at US$215.
