Drinks giant Diageo has appointed Azmar Sukandar as its new head of communications and society for the Asia Pacific region.

Azmar Sukandar will lead Diageo’s communications function in Asia Pacific

In her new role, Sukandar will offer strategic counsel and support to Diageo’s Asia Pacific unit.

She will work closely with Sam Fischer, president of Asia Pacific and Greater China, and Paul Kelleher, corporate relations director for Asia Pacific.

“Diageo has a clear ambition to be one of the best performing, most trusted and respected consumer products companies in the world and I look forward to working with the team to achieve this vision,” said Sukandar.

Before joining Diageo, Sukander held the role of director of strategic communications and marketing, Asia Pacific, for global environmental non-profit The Nature Conservancy.

In addition, Sukandar led Asia Pacific communications for the Financial Times newspaper, Time and Fortune magazines and also worked with Microsoft’s MSN division.

She is also a founding board member and current vice president of the Asia Pacific Association of Communication Directors.

“I am absolutely delighted to welcome Azmar to the Diageo team as head of communications and society for the region,” added Kelleher.

“I am confident that Azmar will play a leading role in promoting responsible drinking and shaping the work that we are doing to help build thriving communities in every market in which we operate.”
