Cuervo Tradicional Tequila brought its circus-themed summer activation to London’s Exchange Square this week, offering an evening of performance, music, physical theatre and cocktails.

Visitors could enjoy performances from experimental theatre group Living Room Circus while sampling Cuervo Tradicional Tequila and tonics, as well as Margaritas and other cocktails infused with candy floss, ice cream and popcorn.

Scottish community pub Nauticus has released a limited edition single cask whisky in partnership coastal distillery Glenglassaugh to mark its first anniversary.

The bar’s founders Kyle Jamieson and Iain McPherson opened Nauticus last year with the aim of showcasing Scottish produce. To mark the bar’s anniversary, the duo worked with their team to identify the perfect cask of Glenglassaugh to bottle.

A total of 275 bottles of whisky from cask 288 have been released. The whisky was distilled in 2011 and has been matured in a Sauternes hogshead for eight years.

Amsterdam hotel Pulitzer launched an update to its literary-themed cocktail menu in its Pulitzer’s Bar this week.

The fifth instalment in the bar’s series of menus, inspired by literary icons, features a selection of drinks influenced by Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express.

Cocktails on the menu include the “crisp, aromatic, bitter, dry” Conductor, which is made with Hendrick’s Orbium Gin, extra dry vermouth, Campari and Muyu Chinotto Nero; and the “refreshing, tropical, zesty, aromatic” Nurse, made with Diplomático Mantuano Rum, coffee, grapefruit, passion fruit and red wine.

Aidy Smith, Helena Nicklin and Colin Hampden-White have started filming the second series of Amazon Prime series The Three Drinkers.

The trio will be returning to screens in early December 2019 and the new episodes will see them back in Scotland to explore distilleries including The Dalmore, Jura, Fettercairn, Glen Scotia, Glen Moray, Loch Lomond and Firkin Gin.

“To date we’ve had quite the adventure,” said Smith. “We’ve learnt the art of herding reindeer, [cutting] fresh peat from the bogs of Islay, and I even made Helena and Colin taste local delicacies like festy cock.”

This week, Balcones Distilling and That Boutique-y Whisky Company hosted a tasting of their limited edition bottlings at TT Liquor in Shoreditch, London.

The tasting was hosted by Jared Himstedt, Balcones head distiller; Winston Edwards, Balcones brand ambassador; and Dave Worthington, global brand ambassador for That Boutique-y Whisky Company.

The range of four single cask whiskeys showcased during the tasting are said to display the “experimental side” of Balcones Distilling.

London’s Dalloway Terrace has partnered with alcohol-free aperitif brand Æcorn to transform for the autumn season.

Embracing the “gilded hues of the season”, the terrace features a new floral installation adorned with gold-coated leaves and brushed gold butterflies created by London florists Wild at Heart.

Æcorn Aperitifs has created a menu of cocktails for the terrace, including the Æcorn Elderflower Spritz, made with Æcorn Dry, elderflower cordial and English sparkling wine, and the non-alcoholic Nogroni, which combines Seedlip Spice 94, Æcorn Bitter and Æcorn Aromatic.

This week, British style icon and entrepreneur David Gandy helped launch Savile Row Gin at an event in London.

Gandy, Savile Row brand ambassador and investor, attended the launch at Gieves & Hawkes, London, which was a chance to showcase the gin brand ahead of its launch in Fortnum & Mason and online.

Gandy said: “As a lover of gin, Savile Row Gin stood out from the crowd with its smoothness and flavour. I loved the fact it is a quintessentially British product, produced in the UK and curated on one of Britain’s most iconic streets, one that stands for craftsmanship and quality.”

The May Fair Hotel, London, this week unveiled a display of four original Marilyn Monroe dresses worn during four of her films.

On display until 21 October, the dresses are from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, There’s No Business Like Show Business, River of No Return and Some Like It Hot.

Following the display, the dresses will be sold on 1 November at Julien’s Auctions at The Standard Oil Building in Beverly Hills.

Spirits and cocktail experts Joel Harrison and Neil Ridley launched their new book The World Atlas of Gin at The Union Club in Soho this week.

The event was attended by bartenders including Ago Perrone, of The Connaught, and Mia Johansson, from Bar Swift, as well as guests including brand ambassadors, bar managers and brand owners.

The World Atlas of Gin explores gins from more than 50 countries around the world, their history and production methods.
