Basement bars launch east London drinks safari

Five east London bars have collaborated on a drinks safari to highlight the city’s underground bar scene, called the Subterranean Summer Series.

Launched in partnership with Ocho Tequila, the Subterranean Summer Series will see Discount Suit Company, Bar Three, Hawksmoor Spitalfields, Ruby’s Bar & Lounge and Nine Lives come together to run the drinks safari throughout August.

The five bars have each created an Ocho Tequila-based cocktail that will be served up as part of the safari.

Cocktails created for the series include Discount Suit Company’s El Pajaro, which combines Ocho, Grapefruit, Umbrella Brewing Cider, sherbet and citrus; Bar Three’s Raspberry and Tequila, made with Ocho Tequila, raspberry cordial, green tea and Neroli; and the Cherry Blossom Margarita from Hawksmoor Spitalfields, which is made with Ocho Tequila, Midori, cherry blossom and citrus.

Drinkers in the capital can also sample the Corn ‘n’ Toil at Ruby’s Bar & Lounge, made with Ocho Tequila, cob corn, smoked paprika and citrus; and the #1 Jimador’s Remedy from Nine Lives, which combines Ocho Tequila, tepache and citrus.

All cocktails will be priced at £5 (US$6) each. Imbibers that sample each of the five cocktails will be treated to a free cocktail courtesy of Ocho Tequila at the bar of their choosing.
