Armagnac body names Farbos president
Patrick Farbos has succeeded Marc Darroze as president of the Bureau National Interprofessionnel de l’Armagnac (BNIA).
Patrick Farbos is the BNIA’s new president for three years
Farbos, who is president of the Les Hauts de Montrouge, was elected on 1 July during the general assembly. He will take on the role for a three-year presidency.
Farbos graduated with a BTS Diploma in animal production and also graduated from The National School of Horticulture of Versailles.
Since 1983, Farbos has worked as winegrower, taking over from his father, who was a member of the Nogaro cellars, also known as the Cave des Producteurs Réunis (CPR).
He became president of Les Hauts de Montrouge in 2009. Since 2014, Farbos has also been president of the Interprofessionnal Committee for Floc de Gascogne.
In his first speech as BNIA president, Farbos said: “The opportunities to work together will be numerous, such as the project for the shared house for the Vignoble Armagnac Gascogne.
“We will continue to structure the organisation internally and manage the projects in order to continue to put the elements in place for the years to come.”
In addition to Farbos’s appointment, Jérôme Delord was named vice-president of the BNIA for three years.
In April last year, the Armagnac industry increased the XO age to a minimum of 10 years, as opposed to six, bringing the classification in line with XO Cognac.
